Hannah LaVigne cutting her son Nolin’s hair at Indigo Credit: Daria Bishop

Indigo — The category is best salon, but for this perennial Daysies winner it ought to be best sal-ahhhn: Indigo prides itself on providing “personal care with a side of serenity.”

Step through its Burlington doors, and the madness of the daily grind melts away. The always sunny Annette Labombard greets clients. Shampoos come with a head massage, and cuts come with a lake view. Those waiting for their color to process sip tea in the lounge while they leaf through magazines or gaze at the Adirondacks. The 27-year-old salon is staffed with pros: 12 of the 29 have been with the company for more than 10 years. Cut, color, style — these artists do it all, and they take classes to keep up with the latest trends and techniques.

Owner Hannah LaVigne works alongside them. She joined Indigo as a part-time receptionist in 2001, worked her way up to manager and bought the place in 2021. It’s a one-stop shop to get refreshed and reenergized.
