Bliss Bee — On the hamster wheel of life — dashing between work, household errands and daycare (kid or doggie) — sometimes you just want a quick, wholesome bite, ideally cooked by someone else. Since 2019, locally born Bliss Bee has ably met that need with its Vermont version of fast-casual food.

Fast-casual is restaurant-industry jargon for something between fast food and casual dining. It means the food is freshly prepared with fewer processed ingredients than at your average fast-food chain but still delivered relatively quickly.

At Bliss Bee’s outposts — two in South Burlington and one in Williston — that looks like hearty breakfast bowls with gluten-free grains, sweet potato, roasted broccoli and sliced apples, topped with a pair of sunny fried eggs. Or you can get a juicy Vermont-grown turkey burger with hoisin glaze and spicy scallion slaw — or a vegan, nut-free fruit smoothie. The crowd-pleasing menu also includes Vermont beef burgers, crispy chicken sandwiches, roasted salmon or tofu bowls, and locally sourced, seasonal salads.

There’s something for everyone in the family. Maybe even the dog.
