Outdoor Gear Exchange — Even after L.L.Bean set up shop around the corner last November, Outdoor Gear Exchange continues its reign as the preeminent gear-and-apparel stop for outdoorsy types. The successful Burlington biz that got its start in 1995 has grown to 90-plus employees and more than 20,000 square feet of prime Church Street retail space, stocked with headlamps, ice-climbing axes, Vermont-made Darn Tough socks and more. In the bargain basement, shoppers can score great deals on used ski and snowboard equipment, clothes, and footwear. After years of dominating this Daysies category, there’s not much left to say about OGE that hasn’t been said before, except this: Keep up the good work!
