Ethan Hawke, Laurence Fishburne and Maria Bello star in director Jean-Francois Richet’s remake of the 1976 John Carpenter action classic in which prisoners and police officers combine forces when the station house they’re stuck in on New Year’s Eve comes under attack. A blast of cheesy, full-throttle fun, this remake that deserves commendation for being more meritorious than most. With Gabriel Byrne and Drea de Matteo. (109 min, R)
