PintCorin here. I first got to know the Shandy while working as a barmaid at a country pub in the UK. Fizzy lemonade is a bar staple across the pond, and this blend of half-lager and half-sparkling lemonade is a ubiquitous warm-weather drink “for the ladies.”

The basic Shandy cuts across many cultures and is ripe for reinterpetation — and, IMHO, unisex as well. At Booze & Brews: Meet the Beer Cocktail this Friday, Red Square mixologists will have their way with this zesty drink, using Otter Creek Spring Bock and a few other spring-like flavors.

To taste their version, get thee to Red Square at 6 p.m. this Friday. First, Otter Creek head brewer Mike Gerhart will talk about his beers, and then the bar will start slinging Shandies and a few other beer cocktails you’ll definitely want to sample.

Tomorrow, we’ll meet the Michelada.
