Too busy to harvest pints of peas or collect heads of cabbage at your CSA pick-up? Starting next year, the Intervale Foundation hopes to deliver about 100 lucky members a new kind of co-operative CSA. According to Sona Dusai, agricultural development specialist at the IF, the CSA delivery service is part of a bigger, multi-year project called the “Burlington Food Hub.” The first phase of the project: “A multi-farm, multi-product, year-round CSA,” says Dusai. What does that mean? Veggies, fruits, eggs, meat and cheese from a variety of producers will be delivered to members all year. Another twist: Instead of sending the stuff to people’s homes, the IF plans to deliver the boxes to a few businesses with localvore-leaning employees. The program is slated to begin in late spring 2008.
