It happened agian. I spent most of the morning composing a post, and I went to drag a picture from another browser window to the desktop, and I accidentally pulled it into the blog window. Firefox threw up a message telling me that I was about to leave an encrypted page. There was no option but “OK.”

I couldn’t even copy the text, as the main window was rendered inactive by the pop-up.

So I had no choice but to watch in horror as all of my work went down the drain. Fine way to start your day.

Anyway, go here. I had a ton of fun commentary and links to accompany this one, but technology defeated me.

Guess I’d better just head down to the offfice.

Got something to say?

  1. I’ve done it a 100 times, but no more….as i write my post, every once in a while I submit it, then open it back up and add to it (editing it, I guess). So once in a while, if you check ibrecords.com, you might see a 1/2 post as I am in the midst of writing it. Not ideal, sure, but I have no love of writing in Word and then cuttin/pastin (tho this is certainly a popular option)…I’ve lost too many over the years.

  2. That problem is probably a Typepad issue. If I accidentally drop a picture in my OSX Firefox browser while in the middle of writing a Candleblog post (which runs on Geeklog), it goes to the picture image and I can just click “back” to return to my half-written post. you should email the Typepad folks and maybe they can fix that in a future version.

  3. I think Typepad (and all other blog hosts) should have a “drafts” feature to protect idiots like myself from ourselves. And Bill, if you don’t want it linked to, keep ‘er off the internets, would ‘ya?

  4. maybe you should write your blog entries on paper first (including long hand HTML / URLs and printing out and cutting and pasting photos you want to use) then scan your paper entry and submit that. too much work?

  5. Maybe I’ll make my own papyrus! That way I can use feathered quills made from the plumage of the rare South American blogingsbird.Or perhaps wood block carvings, stamped unto virgin parchment with red wax, ferried to your homes via carrier pigeon.Anyway, I think the universe is giving me a sign. The first post I lost was about modern music and the occult, particularly in the avant/experimental scene. The Coil/Current 93/Nurse With Wound influence is really becoming apparent, even in the drone-metal bands. I was going to debunk the whole thing with a little help from my pal Momus. The second post was about Danzig. That’ll teach me.
