Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists — It’s a bit ironic that Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists has won a readers’ choice award, because no one really wants to go there. But if it’s a night, weekend or holiday — and, let’s be honest, that’s when trouble finds pets — and your dog tangles with a porcupine or, worse, something on wheels, you are so very happy that BEVS exists.

The Williston practice is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to offer emergency and critical care from board-certified specialists in surgery, internal medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, dentistry and oral surgery. What started in 1999 as a group of vets providing emergency services to 12 veterinary hospitals has grown into the largest emergency and referral veterinary hospital serving Vermont and upstate New York.

Its 17,000-square-foot facility houses 12 exam rooms, an intensive care unit, three surgery suites, CT and MRI units, and 120 compassionate caregivers. If a pet’s gotta do what a pet’s gotta do, it’s comforting to know that BEVS is gonna do what BEVS has done best for the past 26 years.
